| Long gone are the days when clocks were just used as an instrument to tell the time with. Chosen carefully, a wall clock can make a beautiful centrepiece for your room and bring everything else together.
There are so many different styles of clocks which are available that youre literally spoilt for choice. If your room has a certain style or characteristic to it, the clock you choose should fit in to match that. However if youre starting with a blank canvas then you have a lot more freedom in choosing the style to achieve the look which youre after.
Everything seems to be moving to digital these days, but we all still seem to love our analogue clocks with the good old fashioned hands. Many clocks which are available nowadays draw a lot of inspiration from different eras such as the Victorian period and also the 1960s when a lot of Kitsch items were seen as collectables.
As an example, clocks which were once found in Railway stations have now come back in fashion, but this time finding their homes on the living room wall instead of the train platform. This steel polished wall clock is inspired by the more traditional station clock, but uses numbers instead of Roman Numerals.
Kitsch wall clocks tend to be more fun and colourful and clocks like the Cow Wall Clock will go well with most room to give it a more funkier and playful edge. Kitsch is based around all things humorous and playful and will add a lighter mood to a more serious room.
If youre after something a little more classic, then a grandfather clock or a mantle clock would be ideal. Mantle clocks were considered to be a thing of the past until the recent revival of retro and vintage style ones. The classic and timeless style of the Ghost / Fantome clock with its see-through glass (you can actually see the clock mechanism through it) would add instant character to any room.
One final important point is to remember to check the size of the clock, especially if youre going to buy your clock online. Some clocks may appear smaller or larger in size from the images you see, so make sure that you check the diameter of the clock (including the hands) before purchase.
